In 2025, Amsterdam UMC launched the new ‘A Healthy Future for All’ multi-year strategy. In a world full of social challenges, Amsterdam UMC, as a large university medical centre affiliated with two comprehensive universities, is taking responsibility when it comes to the development of the healthcare of the future, paying particular attention to the health of both people and the planet. The organisation is already well on its way with many of its ambitions.  Employee involvement is crucial to the success of this strategy. The Board of Directors has absolute confidence in our knowledge, expertise and commitment to working together to build the healthcare of the future and make a greater societal impact.

On the matter of accommodation, where interests and opinions differ and there is a significant impact on investment, we have worked hard on a route to cover the next 10 to 15 years. It is clear that an entirely new Amsterdam UMC will not be built all at once. That is why we use the term ‘route’, a route we will follow, step by step, over the coming years, working on the future of Amsterdam UMC with an accommodation plan to match. Future scenarios have been tested within the organisation for their impact on core tasks, staff, sustainability, strategy and, of course, affordability. The proposed route will be worked out in more detail in 2026.

The Board of Directors is proud that Amsterdam UMC was once again JCI-accredited in 2025. The efforts of staff are indispensable and much appreciated by the Board of Directors. Together, we will continue to discover the healthcare of tomorrow.
