Chair of the Board of Directors
We don’t want to determine our strategy at board meetings. We want it to be a bottom-up initiative from our people. And for that, we need everyone to share their ideas and expertise. We warmly invite you to join the conversation. Whatever your job title or your role at Amsterdam UMC, we want to hear from you.
Tessa, can we have a chat about our new strategy?
Absolutely, Hans!
Our current strategy is a good place to start, but we’ll need more focus in the next few years.
Agreed. We’ll have to make choices. And now the merger is complete, we can go back to being more outward-looking again.
Let’s think about how to do that.
Not just from the point of view of managers, but from every employee’s perspective.
You’re right. It’s so important to take advantage of the wide range of expertise we have at Amsterdam UMC.
… and not just focusing on our core duties, but really seeing things through the eyes of different employee communities and generations.
That will make the strategy even better.
And it’s inspiring for all our colleagues. It’ll be interesting to hear how other people see the organisation and our future.
And to get their ideas about the bigger picture and how to direct policy, even if that’s not something they do in their day-to-day work. That is precisely what makes their insights so valuable.
Absolutely.
How can we make all that happen?
We’ve held inspiration sessions on current issues: labour market, digitisation, AI, sustainability… We could organise something like that for all employees?
You mean bringing in fascinating speakers to inspire us and then having a brainstorm session? Like a TED Talk or rather a TrendTalk.
Precisely.
And then we can move forward with focused expert sessions and perspective sessions. I’ve already dropped a line to other organisations that have had good experiences.
We could set up a focus group to make sure we listen to diverse perspectives.
Then, finally, we can come together to make choices about what to do, and what not to do.
And you never know what’s going to happen in the wider world. We need to be agile in how we achieve our goals.
I think the main thing is to decide on the direction we should take, the goals. We can engage the organisation to fill in the details on how to get there.
Let’s start by asking the employees and the people around us how they see Amsterdam UMC. What they think we should focus on.
You’re right.
That sounds like a good place to start. We’ll put it all in a digital magazine to inspire everyone and invite them to join the conversation.
Let’s do that NOW!
